Ten dollars doesn't buy a lot these days -- but it just might get some lucky individual the 2012 Ford Mustang pace car from Bristol Motor Speedway.
The Black Mustang (red leather interior), which paces the field for the NASCAR events at BMS this year and is valued at more than $38,000, will be on the line when the fifth edition of the Sharky 500 takes place Oct. 13 at BMS.
The rubber sharks are available now and cost only $10 each. There are 10,000 sharks available and there is no limit on the number individuals may purchase. All proceeds from the sale of the sharks will benefit the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities. The Sharky 500 has raised in excess of $220,000 for children's agencies in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia the past five years.
The shark race takes place at Beaver Creek between the Speedway and Bristol Dragway. The sharks will be released simultaneously into the creek with the first one across the finish line winning its owner the BMS pace car, which is provided by Tri-Cities Area Ford Dealers. Second place will receive $5,000 to spend at Grand Home Furnishing. Third place winner will receive a four night stay vacation at the Wilderness at the Smokies, that will include; water park passes and adventure forest passes.
Prizes also will be awarded for third through 10th place. Winners do not have to be present in order to claim their prizes.
A Kids Expo, free of charge, also will take place that afternoon, prior to the Sharky 500. Activities include: Pumpkin painting, Inflatables sponsored by Tele-Optics, entertainment, a rock wall, and so much more!!
Beginning June 18, Sharks are now being sold at the BMS ticket office, online at www.bristol.speedwaycharities.org and at all Tri-Cities Grand Home Furnishings locations. Beginning July 1, tickets will be available at all Pizza Plus locations. Speedway Children's Charities also will sell sharks during the Aug. 21-24 NASCAR events at BMS.
