After a fifth place finish, Eighteen-Year-Old William Clyde Elliott II, more widely known as Chase Elliott, left the Phoenix International Raceway as NASCAR's Youngest National Series Champion. The son of 1988 Winston Cup Series champion Bill Elliott and Cindy Elliott also made history as the first rookie to win a NASCAR national series championship.

Chase's Father had not expected such a remarkable season.  “Absolutely no way,” Bill reported. “To be able to set foot in his first Nationwide car in January this year, to be here at the end of November as a Nationwide champion, it’s an incredible feat, not only for him but for the team.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., co-owner of Elliott's JR Motorsports race team, has said that his driver is likely to run another full season on NASCAR's No. 2 circuit next year. However, Hendrick, also a co-owner at JRM, sounded as if a few premier series starts would also be sprinkled into that mix.

Kwasniewski will be driving the 9X car for Chris Bray’s Phil’s Phabrication team.

The spectator gates will open at 4 p.m. and racing gets under way at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, handicapped and military and $6 for children and juniors 6 to 16.

#NASCAR Nationwide Points Leader Graduates from High School

Nationwide Points leader, Chase Elliott was the fastest in the first of three Nationwide Series practices Friday at Iowa Speedway.  Driving the No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, Elliott’s top lap on the .875-mile long oval was 134.690 mph. 

This 18-year-old  has won two races in this season’s nine races thus far. He is the son of NASCAR great Bill Elliott.

Bayne (born February 19, 1991), a #NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series race car driver has always looked up to the four-time Sprint Cup champion, Jeff Gordon, who has also won the Daytona 500 three times.

One can only imagine Trevor Bayne’s emotions when he worked the draft with Gordon in his debut series of races at the Daytona International Speedway. Bayne is best known for winning the 2011 Daytona 500, and is the youngest driver to win the race at the age of 20 years and 1 day.

Young Chase Elliott has been burning up the NASCAR Nationwide Series ranks in the No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, which he's put into Victory Lane in each of the last two races.

But in the long history of what we now call the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, it's Chase's dad, Bill Elliott, who has had the most success driving the No. 9.

Kawsniewski Has A Lot to Smile About

Dylan Kawsniewski was signed to a development contract with Chip Ganassi Racing over the weekend.

Ganassi has cars driven by Kyle Larson and Jamie McMurray, and the deal means that the 18-year-old Kawsniewski will be groomed to be the third Sprint Cup Series driver for the team.

Kawsniewski said he's grateful that he has this opportunity.

"It's my best opportunity to get to the top," said Kawsniewski. "I have to learn. I have to prove myself. I'm not just going to get a free ticket up to the top. I have to go out there and perform."

Ganassi said he knows he's taking a bit of a gamble on such a young driver.

"When you look at all his variables, you say, 'He has the least amount of question marks,'" Ganassi said. "We're first and foremost a race team, and it's important we run at the front."

Larson Brings Books To Elementary School

Reading is important for every kid growing up. With Target, who sponsors my race car, they do a lot of charity work for education and all sorts of things like that. It was a good opportunity for me to go there and experience that, it was my first time going to one of their library makeovers. Last month, Kyle Larson, Target and The Heart of America Foundation renovated a Phoenix area school library, which brought 2,000 new books and a technology upgrade to Palm Lane Elementary. Larson even read to the kids, who got to take home books to keep. It’s all part of Target’s School Library Makeover program, which will give $1 billion for education by 2015.

Larson, a 21-year-old NASCAR Nationwide Series driver has moved up the ranks fast and has done well both on and off the track. With the holidays approaching, it’s the time of the year when we help our fellow man – and Larson, with the help of Target, recently did something amazing.

Kyle Larson: Earlier this morning, I got to go to Palm Lane Elementary School and help with other volunteers from Target to unveil their new library – it was pretty cool. They got 2,000 new books in there, all new carpet and shelving and a complete technology upgrade with new iPads and iMacs. Each kid got to leave with seven books to take home and they’re doing more at the school than just the library. It was neat to go there and get to read a book to them and see the excitement on their faces.

The inaugural Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 was August 16-17, 2013, at the Mid-Ohio Sport Car Course. The track has been called the most competitive course in the U.S. and features a permanent road-racing circuit with two primary configurations: a 2.4-mile, 15 turn, and a 2.25-mile, 13-turn circuit. The park-like, 330-acre complex is located in Lexington, Ohio, 60 miles north of Columbus and 75 miles south of Cleveland.

Nationwide Series driver, Eric McClure, and his wife, Miranda, welcomed their fifth daughter. Myanna Brookleigh McClure weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces and measured 18 inches long. She joins older sisters Mabreigh, Maryleigh, Mirabella, and Merritt McClure.

Both mother and baby are doing well.

The Greats Didn't Make It On Talent Alone

The new NASCAR Home Tracks spot aired yesterday during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from Daytona, live on TNT. “Do Your Part,” pays homage to our local and regional series. It encourages fans to see and feel what NASCAR is all about in their hometowns. I also encourage you to experience NASCAR in person at your local track.

Attending a NASCAR race is a full senses experience. The bright colors; the roars of the engines and the screaming fans; the smell of brake dust and rubber; the taste of a cold beverage on a smoking hot day spent in the sun with your friends and feeling the rumble in your seat as the cars charge past. There is nothing in the world like attending a NASCAR Sprint Cup race in person. You'll be hooked.

Charlie Dean Leffler Online Auction

Leffler, 37, died on June 12 in a crash at Bridgeport Speedway,
a five-eighths mile high-banked dirt track in Swedesboro, N.J.

In memory of Jason Leffler, who tragically lost his life on June 12, The NASCAR Foundation is hosting an online auction to benefit Leffler’s five-year-old son, Charlie Dean, through The Charlie Dean Leffler Discretionary Trust. 

Items for the auction currently include an autographed Dale Jr. Firesuit, Ride in the Goodyear Blimp and NASCAR Hall of Fame package. All proceeds will benefit the trust. A native of Long Beach, Calif., Leffler, a two-time winner on the NASCAR Nationwide Series, has been a fixture at NASCAR’s national level since 1999.

Youth from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County Rev Up for a NASCAR Race with Rancher’s Reserve Beef

From the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County:

Rancher’s Reserve beef, a Cargill beef brand available exclusively at Safeway, is making it possible for kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County to experience a NASCAR Nationwide Series race for the first time at the Dover International Speedway on Sept. 29 in Dover, Del.

“Safeway and Rancher’s Reserve beef know that race time is a great way to enjoy time with friends and family,” said Sarah Hecox, brand manager, Cargill. “We are happy to provide a fun, educational activity for the kids of Harford County. It is our hope that they will learn more about racing and will remember this experience for years to come.”

Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County consist of four locations throughout the county. Since those attending the NASCAR experience live in areas about an hour from the Speedway, Rancher’s Reserve beef is providing bus transportation to and from the race.

“At the Boys & Girls Clubs, we strive to provide healthy, safe activities for the kids who cannot afford, or may lack access to, other community programs,” said Tim Wills, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Harford County. “Attending a NASCAR race, and having everything from transportation to the tickets provided, is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the kids in Harford County.”

Austin and Ty Dillon Play 3-D Dodgeball

NASCAR racing brothers Austin and Ty Dillon, both coming off of top-five finishes in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Indianapolis, were in Atlanta on Tuesday, August 7th for two appearances to promote the upcoming Labor Day night racing weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Aug. 31-Sept. 2.

The two drivers are among the top rising stars in NASCAR. Austin is currently second in the NASCAR Nationwide Series points standings and is the defending NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion. AdvoCare, the Official Performance Elite Products of Atlanta Motor Speedway, is one of Dillon's primary sponsors.

Austin’s younger brother Ty, who is racing full-time in his rookie season in the truck series, is also second in points.

Both are the grandsons of legendary NASCAR team owner Richard Childress.

The brothers competed in a 3-D dodgeball game from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the first twenty-four kids present received paid admission to Sky Zone and had the opportunity to play 3-D dodgeball with both Austin and Ty. The Atlanta Motor Speedway pace car was also on-site,

(Sky Zone Atlanta is located at 560 Old Peachtree Road Suwanee, GA 30024. Sky Zone’s indoor trampoline park allows participants to play dodgeball in an environment comprised of trampolines on all sides, including the walls.)
