Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Announces 30th Anniversary Ride Route

The 30th Anniversary Ride will take place from May 1 – May 9, 2026, starting in Sonoma, California, and ending in Charlotte, North Carolina, crossing 11 states in just nine days.

 

Former NASCAR driver and current racing analyst Kyle Petty officially announced the complete route and overnight stops for the 30th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America (KPCRAA). For the milestone edition, the 30th Anniversary KPCRAA will truly cross the United States, starting in Sonoma, California, on May 1, 2026, and concluding in Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 9, 2026.

 

The 30th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America will be book-ended by trips to two iconic Speedway Motorsports (SM) racetracks, Sonoma Raceway and Charlotte Motor Speedway, and will see Petty lead roughly 150 motorcycles over 3,400 miles across 11 states in just nine days to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction – a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with serious and chronic medical conditions. Since 1995, more than 9,575 riders have logged 13.3 million cumulative motorcycle miles and raised more than $23 million for Victory Junction and other children’s charities.

 

In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, the 30th Anniversary KPCRAA will ride historic Highway 50, the ‘Loneliest Road in America,’ and parts of the original Route 66, both of which are celebrating their Centennial in 2026. The Ride is working closely with America 250 to highlight iconic stops along the way, and contribute to the “Our American Story,” program in which stories of everyday Americans will be recorded for posterity.

 

The Ride will also make stops at the original Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, Missouri; tour Elvis Presley’s home and museum Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee; explore the Coker Museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee; ride the famous 318-curve and 11-mile Dragon through the Appalachian Mountains; visit Wheels Through Time Motorcycle Museum in Maggie Valley, North Carolina; capped off with a trip to Victory Junction before heading to Charlotte Motor Speedway.

 

“The reason I am so excited about this year’s Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America is because this is our 30th year,” Petty said. “America 250 – the anniversary of our great country’s independence, the 100th anniversary of Highway 50 – the ‘Loneliest Road in America,’ the 100th anniversary of Route 66 – another iconic highway. There is just so much to celebrate this year. The places we are stopping – Bass Pro Shops, Coker Museum, Graceland, riding the Dragon - just like the kid’s book says, ‘Oh the places you’ll go!’ I feel like a kid and I’m ready to do it.”

The start and end points for the 30th Anniversary Ride also replicates the first route taken by Kyle Petty and friends during the initial Ride in 1995. The first Ride kicked off May 8, 1995, following the NASCAR Cup Series race at Sonoma Raceway, and wrapped up in Charlotte eight days later.

 

Among the celebrities participating in this milestone 30th Anniversary Ride are NASCAR Hall of Famer and seven-time NASCAR champion Richard Petty; NASCAR Hall of Famer and NASCAR Cup Series champion Matt Kenseth; NASCAR Vice Chairman Mike Helton; former NASCAR drivers Clint Bowyer, David Ragan, Ken Schrader, and Kenny Wallace; former Formula 1, Champ Car, and NASCAR driver Max Papis; former IndyCar driver JR Hildebrand; TV personalities Rick Allen and Rutledge Wood; and great-grandson of William A. Davidson, one of the Harley-Davidson founders, VP & Global Brand Ambassador Bill Davidson.

 

Since the inaugural year in 1995, the KPCRAA has had 10 total NASCAR Hall of Fame members and two Landmark Award winners participate in the Ride including: Richard Petty, David Pearson, Terry Labonte, Ray Evernham, Robert Yates, Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Herschel McGriff, Donnie Allison, Harry Gant, NASCAR Vice Chairman Mike Helton, and NASCAR Chairman and CEO Jim France.

“Once you go on the Kyle Petty Charity Ride, you become part of the Charity Ride family,” Petty said. “It’s hard to explain to somebody that doesn’t understand it. We have around 50 people who have gone 20 years or more on this Ride.

 

“This year we have 150 motorcycles going with us, and we still had to turn people away. It is the hardest thing to tell people it didn’t work out for this year’s Ride.” he said. “We tell those people to come back next year, get on the list, and we will look at those people first. We have two doctors and two nurses that go with us, paramedics that follow the bikes, retired Highway Patrol motor officers who act as our Ride Motor Marshals, we have a hotel and luggage team, a media team, Coca-Cola sends a team and truck with products, Harley-Davidson sends a truck and technicians – there are an additional 30+ people that go with us just to make sure we can ride every day. #MyGivingStory is a social media storytelling contest created to foster a public conversation about giving and to inspire more people to give.

Below is my entry: 

My devotion to the resilience of children stimulates me to give back. Every month, my husband and I donate to Victory Junction. We love how health challenged children entrusted to this camp gain a greater understanding of their own strengths and courage.

Victory Junction is a medically safe, yet exhilarating facility that challenges youngsters who have a serious medical condition to try things they never imagined possible. As they conquer activities like zip lining and archery or experience bowling, fishing or swimming, the children build confidence that will positively shape how they view the rest of their lives. You should see the “Adventure Tower” which stands fifty-five (55) feet tall and is covered in puzzling ways to get to the top!

We visited the Victory Junction a couple of years back and were thrilled to see how creativity and ingenuity came together to offer these kids the experience of their lives.

This transformative Camp has enriched over eight thousand young campers and thanks to generosity of donors, families never pay for their child to attend. How awesome it would be if we could donate that $10,000 prize to this charity.

“Come what come may, time and the hour run through the roughest day.” ― William Shakespeare, Macbeth. The camp began operation in 2004. It was the dream of Adam Petty, a fourth-generation race car driver from the famous Petty family. Adam died at the young age of nineteen in 2000 during a practice lap crash. It was his dream to help children and Adam’s family, fellow drivers, plus friends made it happen.

Victory Junction is part of SeriousFun Children’s Network (SFCN), an alliance of nine camps nationally and thirty camps worldwide that serve children dealing with serious medical condition and chronic illnesses. It is also an official charity of NASCAR.

If you are ever near Randleman, North Carolina, I highly recommend you arrange for a tour of the Victory Junction grounds. The insight you reap will enhance your life.

What are the prizes?

There are several streams of prizes:

1. From among the 20 finalists with the most votes, the judges' rankings will determine the winners of 1st Place ($10,000 for your chosen nonprofit organization), 2nd Place ($5,000 for your chosen nonprofit organization) and 3rd Place ($2,500 for your chosen nonprofit organization).
2. The four nonprofit organizations that are nominated by the most story submitters will each receive $2,000 grants. (Note that this will not impact individual stories' eligibility to be a finalist or winner of one of the larger prizes.)
3. The five stories submitted by people between the ages of 13 and 17 with the most votes will receive the #GivingTuesdayKids award and $1,000 for their chosen nonprofit organization.
4. The five Spanish-language stories with the most votes will be reviewed by judges. The two finalists with the highest scores will receive the #Yo Donoy Porque award and $12,500 for their chosen nonprofit organization.
5. Two stories that touch the GivingTuesday team will each receive an Honorable Mention and $1,000 for their chosen nonprofit organization.
6. Eight times throughout the voting period (twice per week), an entry will be selected at random to receive a $500 grant for their chosen charity. (Note that this will not impact individual stories’ eligibility to be a finalist or winner of one of the larger prizes.)
7. Every day during the submission period (November 1st to December 3rd), an entry will be selected at random to receive a custom GivingTuesday gift.

Mitchell is an eleven-year-old who loves NASCAR, everything Petty, and Bubba Wallace! He goes to lots of NASCAR races with his dad and always make posters to show support for his driver, Bubba Wallace, driver of the #43 and his team, Richard Petty Motorsports. 

For the Darlington race, Bubba drove a throwback scheme, designed to honor Adam Petty's win in the ARCA series, and the sponsor of the car, Victory Junction Camp. Mitchell made the poster in honor of Adam Petty, his legacy, and the camp.

Interview of Mitchell by his Father

1) Mitchell, why did you make this poster?

Answer: To support Bubba Wallace and Richard Petty Motorsports. In memory of and honor of Adam Petty because of how good of a person he was. I am just happy Bubba got to drive that car.

2) Mitchell, why do you want to auction this poster off?

Answer: Because that is what Adam Petty would do. He would donate money to Victory Junction and he would do everything he could to make kids smile and I think something I dedicated to him should help a camp he wanted to make. I am just happy that my poster is gonna go for money that I can donate to get somebody to go to camp. My goal is to try to do the same thing that Adam would do. I want to be able to help that camp. I want to be a counselor when I turn 18. I want to help as much as I can to honor Adam Petty.

3) Why is Victory Junction special to you?

Answer: Because it is Adam Petty's legacy. It is what he wanted to make. I have been to Victory Junction Camp twice (not as a camper). When I was there I felt proud to be a 43 fan and to know about Adam Petty. It is a special place, just for kids who might not be able to go to camps like 4h or other camps I can go to.

4) What makes Adam Petty special to you?

Answer: He was just a great person. Everything he did for everybody was remarkable. There are not many people like that and I think that's pretty awesome.

Darlington marked Mitchell's 7th NASCAR race of the season and his 7th #43 poster this season. He makes them all for Bubba Wallace and the #43 team. He wanted to give the poster to the camp, but I made the suggestion that he auction it off for proceeds to go to Victory Junction Camp. He jumped all over it. He is so excited! His goal is no small one. He wants to raise enough money to send one camper to camp ($1,500-$2,500!). While I understand he likely won't reach his goal, I hope we can raise some funds for Victory Junction and some exposure as well! Mitchell's Dad

Adam Petty

Adam Kyler Petty was an American professional racing driver. He was the fourth generation from the Petty family to drive in races in the highest division of NASCAR racing. He is believed to be the first fourth-generation athlete in all of modern American professional sports.

Tragically, on May 12, 2000, in a practice session for the Busch 200 race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Petty's throttle stuck wide open going into turn three, causing the car to hit the outside wall virtually head on. Petty was killed instantly when he suffered a basilar skull fracture. He was just nineteen years old.

The Petty family founded Victory Junction in honor of their son and to honor his dream of helping children.

21st Kyle Petty Charity Ride Leaves Santa Cruz on Saturday (#nascar)

Cross-country motorcycle trek has raised more than $16 million for Victory Junction Gang Camp 

 

NBC Sports NASCAR analyst and former NASCAR driver Kyle Petty will lead 200 motorcyclists along the seven-day / 2,500 mile route — stretching from Santa Cruz, California, to Branson, Missouri — to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction, a camp created to enrich the lives of children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

“Each year, we select a route that’s full of breathtaking scenery, while also allowing us to spread the word and build excitement around our mission along the way,” Petty said. “Year after year, the Ride creates lasting memories for our riders, most importantly, it provides life-changing opportunities for children at Victory Junction.”

The bottom line, of course, is charity. As a 501(c)(3) organization, the Ride has raised more than $16 million for the Petty family’s Victory Junction Gang Camp and other children’s-related charities. The 84-acre camp near Greensboro, N.C., is for children suffering from terminal or chronic diseases that disqualify them from mainstream camp.

The Petty family opened it in 2004 to honor the late Adam Petty, Lee’s great-grandson, Richard’s grandson and Kyle’s son. Just 19, Adam was killed during a single-car practice crash at Loudon, N.H., on May 12, 2000.

As a result of the Kyle Petty Charity Ride, 7,815 children have attended Victory Junction at no cost to their families. The camp has served as the ride’s primary beneficiary since its establishment by Kyle Petty in 2004 in honor of his late son Adam.

“We’d love to have as many members of the community to come out and join us at the fuel stop,” said Liza Jones, public relations for the ride. “Kyle will be on hand to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.”

Last year, NASCAR Race Mom (NRM) was luckily enough to meet up with Kyle Petty and his best buddy Rutledge Wood before the 2014 Charity Ride in Carlsbad, California. 

This year’s plan is to join the group for a day in Bakersfield. NRM participate in the event by purchasing ride memorabilia and of course to make a donation to Victory Junction.

Jeff -15 Year-Old Victory Junction Camper

"I love this place so much, I never have to worry about anything"

Jeff is a 15 year old camper who attended University Week this summer.

Jeff was very eager and excited to climb the Adventure Tower and our counselors were excited for him when he made it to the top, too!

"I have been looking forward to this day since last summer. Last year I only made 3/4 of the way up the tower, but this year I was able to make it all the way to the top. This is the best I have felt all year!"

One of the amazing things about Jeff's accomplishment is that he is on oxygen 24/7. Our Medical and Program departments worked together to find a way for Jeff to successfully climb the tower. With a little creativity and extensive medical supervision, our staff was able to make Jeff's wish come true.

When asked one thing he wished people knew about Victory Junction, Jeff said,

"[Victory Junction] is here and available for children just like me! I want to make sure everyone receives the same feeling I get when I'm at Victory Junction. I love this place so much, I never have to worry about anything."

Route Announced For 20th Anniversary Motorcycle Trek - This year the Scenic tour kicks off in Carlsbad, California and concludes in Daytona Beach, Florida. Carlsbad is just a few miles away from NASCAR Race Mom’s home!

The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America announced the course for its 20th Anniversary Ride. From Saturday, May 3 through Saturday, May 10, 2014, more than 175 riders will embark on the crosscountry motorcycle trek, which begins in Carlsbad, California and travel more than 2,800 miles before reaching Daytona Beach, Florida.

Founded by former NASCAR driver and racing analyst Kyle Petty, the Ride raises funds and awareness for Victory Junction, a Camp created to enrich the lives of children with chronic or life threatening illnesses.

“What began as just a few friends having a good time riding track to track has turned into what we have today, which is an incredible event that provides thousands of life changing experiences for children,” said Petty. “This is the first year we’ve traveled straight from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, and I’m looking forward to experiencing it with friends, while meeting our fans and generous supporters along the way.”

Richard Lee Petty is a former NASCAR driver who raced in the Strictly Stock/Grand National Era and the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. "The King," as he is nicknamed, is most well-known for winning the NASCAR Championship seven times. 

Richard's son, Kyle Petty established Victory Junction Gang Camp for terminally-ill children to honor his late son Adam who died while practicing for a Busch Series race at New Hampshire International Speedway.
