Eiki Koga To Make NASCAR Jr. Late Model Debut

 

Ten-year-old Japanese driver Eiki Koga will make his race debut in the 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model  on March 14 at Madera Speedway, supported by Wilson Motorsports, as he begins his journey toward achieving his dream of becoming a NASCAR Cup Series driver.

 

In addition, Eiki has signed as a development driver with Fast Track Racing.

 

Andy Hillenburg, a two-time Daytona winner, will oversee Eiki’s management and guide him on his path to becoming a NASCAR driver.

Wyatt Miller Takes His First Limited Late Model Victory

 

NASCAR has a new member of the Earnhardt dynasty making a name for themselves after Wyatt Miller took his first Limited Late Model race victory at Hickory Motor Speedway.

 

Miller, 13, is the son of Kelley Earnhardt-Miller, the son of the great Dale Earnhardt and sister of his legendary son Dale Earnhardt Jr.

 

The Earnhardt family remains iconic in NASCAR, with Amazon Prime Video releasing a docuseries on the late Dale Sr. on Memorial Day Weekend, while Dale Jr. and Kelley could take their JR Motorsports team to the Cup Series after taking part in the Daytona 500.

 

But the family legacy now has a new name making waves on the tarmac after Miller took the checkered flag at the historic 0.363-mile oval known as the 'Birthplace of the NASCAR stars'.

 

Miller was making just his second start and started on pole. He led early on in the 40-lap race before Zach Bringer took the lead until his engine blew up on Lap 32.

 

Miller then took the lead and held off Aiden King on the final lap to come out on top in his No.73 car, sponsored by Bass Pro Shops.

 

"We had a really good car," Miller said in Victory Lane. "I was catching Zach, and then he blew up. I think Aiden tried to rattle my cage, but it didn't work."

Happy #NASCAR Father’s Day

 

Why is there no NASCAR event on 2023 Father’s Day weekend? 

 

The simplest answer: It’s a good time for everyone to take a rest. The last weekend off for the Cup Series came on Super Bowl Sunday, which fell between the Busch Light Clash and the Daytona 500. There won’t be another break until the season ends with the Championship 4 in November. 

 

However, NASCAR Race Mom (NRM) laments that this decision takes away an opportunity for Fathers and their children to construct lasting Father’s Day memories. Hopefully, next Father’s Day will feature the wholesome adventure I cherish as NASCAR.

  • Proceeds from Laps for Charity, Geared for Greatness presented by Coca-Cola, Live Auction and Fan Assistance Golf Cart Rides during the March 24-26 NASCAR weekend will benefit children in need in the Austin, Texas community through Speedway Children's Charities.

Race fans attending the March 24-26 NASCAR at COTA weekend at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) doubled their 2022 donations to Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC), the official charity of Speedway Motorsports, by contributing more than $30,000 that will benefit Austin-area children this year.

 

Funds were raised throughout the three-day EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix tripleheader weekend through:

 

  • Laps for Charity: Race fans experienced driving their own vehicle around the 3.41-mile, 20-turn permanent road course behind an official NASCAR at COTA Toyota pace car.
  • Geared for Greatness presented by Coca-Cola: ESPN SportsCenter co-anchor Sage Steele hosted this inaugural networking breakfast and forum for women in sports and entertainment at Fairmont Austin.
  • Live Auction: Race fans bid on unique experiences and autographed memorabilia during the Friday night Camper Party.
  • Fan Assistance Golf Carts: Donations were accepted as the golf carts escorted race fans all over COTA property.

“We are blown away by the generosity of race fans who participated in our fundraising events during the NASCAR at COTA event weekend,” Speedway Children’s Charities National Executive Director Lisa Starnes said. “We were hoping to build off of the momentum that was created last year when we first introduced Speedway Children’s Charities to the Austin, Texas fan base, but to double what we raised last year is absolutely incredible. We are so thankful and can’t wait to distribute these funds to even more Austin-area children.”
