Speedway Christmas Setup Underway
at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Speedway Christmas Setup Underway at Charlotte Motor Speedway

While many revelers are busy making last-minute Halloween costumes and sorting candy for eager trick-or-treaters, officials at Charlotte Motor Speedway are busy stringing lights and building Santa's Workshop in anticipation of the fifth annual Speedway Christmas holiday light show, which will light up the legendary 1.5-mile superspeedway in just three weeks.

Construction has begun on the completely redesigned 3.1-mile course, which weaves through the infield, offers visitors the chance to drive on the track and - new for 2014 - continues under the concourse behind the frontstretch grandstands. Crews will work seven days a week for the next 22 days preparing for opening night.

In addition to setting up more than 800 light displays, crews will transform the infield into a winter wonderland, featuring a Bethlehem Village and Santa's Workshop. This year's fan-favorite lights-to-music display promises to be even bigger and brighter than ever before, with an all-new design sure to bring even more merriment to fans throughout the holidays.

Fans can get a sneak peek of the light show and enjoy a concert by Charlotte, N.C.-based Charity Case during the Eggnog Jog 5K on Friday, Nov. 21. The drive-through light show will be open nightly Nov. 22-Dec. 30 from 6-10 p.m., closed Christmas Day. Thursday through Sunday nights, visitors will enjoy even more family entertainment in the Christmas Village. The village includes marshmallow roasting, a petting zoo and kids' zone, photos with Santa, Bethlehem Village and so much more.

Remembering Jason and Charlie (#nascar)

As NASCAR Race Mom reviewed the Kansas Notes and Facts, fond memories of Jason Leffler sprung into her mind. You see, Jason Leffler won the inaugural Coors Light pole at Kansas Speedway in 2001 with a speed of 176.499 mph.

Has more than a year really passed since Leffler, affectionately known as "lefTurn," died after a crashing a sprint car on a dirt track in New Jersey?

Jason Leffler was only thirty-seven when he died on June 12, 2013 in a crash at Bridgeport Speedway, a five-eighths mile high-banked dirt track in Swedesboro, N.J.

A native of Long Beach, California, Leffler made 423 starts in NASCAR's three national series; and won two Nationwide races and one Truck Series event in a career that began in 1999.

Jason Leffler left behind his young son, Charlie. In September of 2013 more than $62,000 had been raised for the Charlie Dean Leffler Educational Fund Grant.

Wecome to #NASCAR
Cash Aaron Bowyer

It's a boy for Bowyer!!!

#NASCAR Driver Clint Bowyer and his wife Lorra present their brand new baby boy, is Cash Arron Bowyer. Cash was born on 10/01/2014.

“Bowyer is going to be a great dad,’’ said former teammate Kevin Harvick. “Life is going to change regardless of whether he thinks it’s not going to.

Matt Kenseth sees Bowyer as a dad another way. He likens it to the unorthodox parent Adam Sandler played in the movie “Big Daddy.’’

“That’s going to be Bowyer, for sure,’’ Kenseth said joking.

Denny Hamlin said among the many changes for Bowyer will be his TV viewing habits in the future.

“He’ll know what Doc McStuffins is and Jake and the Never Land Pirates,’’ Hamlin said of children's shows. “He’ll get all of that very, very soon.’’

You can follow new dad Clint via twitter at @ClintBowyer
